Gambhir, Ishant and Nehra back Sehwag's anti-DDCA tirade

A day after Virender Sehwag levelled charges of nepotism against the Delhi District and Cricket Association (DDCA), three other prominent Delhi cricketers have come out in the dashing batsman's supportIndian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir as well as pace bowlers Ishant Sharma and Ashish Nehra have come out in full support of Sehwag. Gambhir has in fact said if things don't improve, he will move out of Delhi this year itself.

Gambhir is quoted as telling The Indian Express, "I am completely behind Sehwag. There is a need to bring about tranparency in the selection process. If things don't improve, I will not hesitate to move out of Delhi this year itself."

Ishant also echoed Gambhir's views and said, "I am in complete support of Viru Bhai. He is absolutely right about selection issues and things can definately be much better."

Nehra opines that this is probably the last chance the DDCA has to get things right. "The manner in which the DDCA functions, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to leave Delhi," he was quoted as saying.

On Monday, Sehwag hasd claimed that some selectors group together to force a player of their choice into the side, leaving the captain and selection committee chairman powerless. He has also alleged manipulation in the selection of Delhi under-16 and under-19 teams.

The Delhi team, which won the 2007-08 Ranji title, failed to even make the knock-out stage last season. Sehwag did not play a single match last season because of his engagements with the national team.

Sehwag, who is currently in Bangalore undergoing rehabilitation for his injured shoulder, has been told to put his decision to leave on hold till he meets DDCA President Arun Jaitley. The meeting is likely to take place on August 27 or 28 to discuss the matter.
